Raise your hand if you like homemade hamburgers! Okay, that’s one, two, three…wait – I can’t count that high! I’ll bet just as many folks have their own homemade hamburgers recipes, too. Have you ever tried Cajun hamburgers, though? If you like lots of flavor and spices, these homemade burgers will bring a smile to your face, I “guarawnTEE”!
The best homemade hamburgers start with good beef. Buy ground sirloin, or buy steaks and grind your own. Use my Cajun seasoning recipe to spice up your hamburgers, or use your own version. Smoke the burgers on a slow grill, and then brown them over very hot coals or in an iron skillet.
Holle’s Cajun Hamburgers recipe
What you’ll need:
- 1 pound ground sirloin
- ½ pound bulk Andouille sausage
- 1 tablespoon bottled barbecue sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce
- 1 beaten egg
- ½ cup minced onion
- 1 teaspoon Holle’s Cajun seasoning
- 2 loaves French bread
- Softened butter
- Garlic salt
Directions: Mix everything together and refrigerate for a couple of hours. Shape into six oblong or round patties.
Place hamburger patties on foil and set on grill, away from direct heat. Close lid and smoke until burgers are almost done.
Open grill and remove burgers from foil. Brown on both sides over high heat.
Split bread and spread with butter. Sprinkle with garlic salt and toast under the oven broiler.
Slice bread into burger-size lengths. Place Cajun burgers on bread and top with your favorite condiments.
