You can make lots of low carb recipes at home, and many don’t require any “fancy” ingredients. For example, you probably have all the ingredients you need to make low carb chocolate syrup right now! I’ve made this syrup several times, and it’s great on sugar-free ice cream. I also like to use it as a dipping sauce for low-carb fruits like strawberries and raspberries.

These mini pumpkin tarts are great little Thanksgiving recipes, and if your guests are going to have to wait a while for the main meal, these could even serve as Thanksgiving appetizers. I used a small ramekin, like the ones that usually hold sauce. Of course, you could use any size baking vessel you like.

This is one of our new favorite southern desserts. I came up with it after one of my daughters brought me a bucket of fresh pears from visiting her grandmother. This is a quick and easy dessert recipe that’s really tasty. I’ve always liked a sweet and salty combination, and this dessert pizza achieves that. I cal it a dessert pizza because I couldn’t think of anything better to call it.

Of all American recipes, I think southern desserts rank very near the top. My husband certainly thinks so. I actually created this particular dessert from leftovers, mostly. I had four refrigerated biscuits left from a previous project, and I had a couple of partial bags of berries in the freezer – blackberries, blueberries, and strawberries. The following recipe is what I came up with.

My ex-sister-in-law, Toni Harris, sent me a bucket of pears from her tree today, so I started running through the rolodex in my head for dessert recipes. Finally, I decided to make some poached pears for our dessert tonight, and they were great. Thanks, Toni!

There was a time not so long ago when figs were a popular southern food. Homes all across the South had a fig tree growing in the yard, and when the figs were ripe, housewives stayed busy making fig preserves and fig cakes. I’ve always had a fig tree or two everywhere I’ve lived except here in my present home. Quite honestly, I’d sort of forgotten all about figs until a friend, Kathy Alexander, asked me about a baked fig and cheese dish. I used to make such a dish, but it had been years since I had done so. I set out to make it again. The problem was finding some fresh figs. None of the supermarkets in this area had figs. I could hardly believe it! After a long search, I finally discovered that my niece, Becky Wilson, had a fig tree, so she generously shared her bounty with me.

This is one of the easiest Thanksgiving recipes you’ll ever find. In fact, it might be THE easiest! On top of that, it’s also delicious. It’s so moist that it’s really more like a pie than a cake. This ice box cake would also be great for Halloween, Christmas, or any time you want a quick and easy dessert recipe. I make small cakes, but you can make them as large as you like. In fact, I use only about ½ can of the pumpkin pie filling for the recipe below. Make sure you use “pumpkin pie filling,” not “canned pumpkin.”

I’ll bet this is going to be one of your favorite Thanksgiving recipes! It’s a quick and easy Thanksgiving dessert that’s really delicious. My entire family loves these pies, so I always make several for Turkey Day. Be sure to use canned pumpkin and not canned pumpkin pie filling that’s already sweetened.

This is a wonderful southern food recipe that’s great for summer. I really like southern desserts that can be kept in the fridge in the sweltering heat of June, July, and August. This recipe is similar to traditional lemon meringue pie, but it’s not as tart. Actually, I like the orange meringue better!

Some of the most beloved southern food recipes are for desserts, and some of the most popular southern desserts are for old-fashioned bread puddings. The one I’m sharing with you here is fairly simple to make, and it’s rich and delicious. To make it even better, serve it with vanilla ice cream while the pudding is still warm.
