You know we Southerners like our Southern food, especially when the ingredients can be found locally, like peaches. This is one of those smooth, rich, creamy southern desserts that’s a perfect way to use fresh peaches. Be sure to select peaches that are ripe and free of blemishes. Peaches won’t ripen after they’re picked. They’ll get softer, but they won’t get any sweeter. Try this recipe next time you’re craving peaches and cream!

This is a super quick and easy dessert that looks and tastes great! It’s simple because you use pre-baked tart shells that are all ready to fill. You can also find frozen tart shells in the freezer section. The tart in the photo is filled with instant cheesecake-flavored pudding that was then topped with whipped cream and fresh fruit. You make this even easier by using already-made cheesecake filling. With that, all you have to do is spoon in into the tart shells!

Whenever you’re craving cheesecake, you can throw this quick and easy recipe together in no time! It’s a great no-bake dessert, so you won’t even have to heat up your kitchen. The taste is rich and creamy, and the cherry topping gives it an added texture. If you prefer, you can use blueberry or strawberry instead of cherry.

This is a great Southern desserts recipe. When I was a kid, I used to stay with my aunt after school and in the summers while Mom worked. Aunt Tinkie was an awesome cook! She used to make a mandarin orange cake on hot summer days and keep it cool in the fridge. I’d come in from playing or riding my pony, and she’d slice ne a piece of cake for a snack. Ooohhh, it was sooo good! It was cold and refreshing, with a light, creamy frosting.

Pecan pie is a wonderful Southern food and one of the classic southern desserts, but when you add chocolate chips, it’s really decadent. I like to toast my pecans before using them in my pecan pie recipes, but you can skip this step, if you like. If you think my pecan pie recipe is going to be too sweet for you, use semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate chips.

One of everyone’s favorite New England recipes, apple pie will fill your home with tantalizing scents as it bakes. This is a wonderful pie crust recipe, and the apple filling is both sweet and rich. Use any type of tart baking apple, including Braeburn, Winesap, Cortland, or Jonathan. My favorite pie apple, however, is Granny Smith. The Granny Smith has a nice tart flavor, and it keeps its shape well while baking. You might want to use a combination of different types of apples for your apple pie recipe!

Pound cake is pretty much a southern desserts staple, and most everyone makes it a little differently. Most pound cake recipes produce a dense, heavy cake, but a few create a lighter cake. Of course, pound cakes come in a variety of flavors, too. This one is a lemon pound cake recipe.

This apple turnover recipe is awesome! It’s flaky and flavorful, and even better, it’s quick and easy. Your family will think you’ve attended pastry school once they get a taste of an apple turnover right from your own oven.

Welcome back to my online cooking school, y’all! I’ve had requests for online cooking classes about southern desserts, so today’s pastry is a wonderful dessert called “bourbon pecan pie.”
We have loads of pecans here in the Deep South, and they usually play a big part in Southern cooking. The orchards are everywhere, and many folks have a tree or two in their yard. My youngest daughter brought me a big bag of cracked pecans recently, and I picked out the nut meats at night in front of the TV. I gotta tell ya – I got to the point where I was sick of looking at pecans! I actually ended up treating the squirrels to a few. I put gallons of pecan meats in the freezer, and I made all kinds of goodies with the nuts. First of all, however, I had to make some traditional pecan pies to go with our Thanksgiving desserts. Here in the South, it just ain’t Thanksgiving without a pecan pie or two…or four!
