Deviled Crab Cakes

Deviled crab cakes

After making my crab pie last night, I had ½ pound of crab meat left, so I decided to make crab cakes. I spiced them up with some red pepper, and they were yummy! While I was eating one of the crab cakes, I kept thinking of Spongebob’s “crabbie patties” and decided these would make great crab burgers!

Like I tell you with my other crab recipes, use fresh or refrigerated crab meat.

Holle’s Deviled Crab Cakes

What you’ll need:

  • ¼ cup green bell pepper, diced
  • ¼ cup thinly sliced green onions
  • 1 tablespoon minced celery
  • ½ pound crab meat
  • 1 beaten egg
  • ¼ cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 2 teaspoons ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Olive oil

Directions: Place bell pepper, green onions, and celery in a small microwave-safe bowl and zap until veggies are soft. Drain well and blot with paper towels.

Place crab in a bowl and pick through.

In another bowl, combine egg, bread crumbs, ketchup, mayo, and seasonings. Pour mixture over crab meat and add veggies. Mix all ingredients together gently – don’t break up lumps of crabmeat. Refrigerate for 15-20 minutes.

Form mixture into cakes.

Heat olive oil over medium heat. Fry crab cakes until brown.
