Our friends invited us over for dinner the other night, and we had grilled pizza. Steve cooked the pizza on his Traeger grill, and we were impressed! The crust was super crispy, and the pizza had a wonderful smoky flavor. Steve used apple wood pellets in the hopper.
We were really impressed with the Traeger grill. It can be used as a grill or as a smoker, and it has a thermostat for precise cooking temperatures. It provides as much or as little smoke as you like, too. Steve uses the grill for smoking large pieces of meat like Boston butts, and for grilling chicken steaks, and pork chops. Obviously, he grills pizzas, too! Here’s his recipe for grilled pizza:
Steve’s Grilled Pizza recipe
What you’ll need:
- 1 pizza crust
- Pizza sauce
- Grated mozzarella cheese
- Bell peppers, any color
- Sliced pepperoni
- Diced red onion
- Italian sausage
Directions: Cover crust with pizza sauce. Sprinkle with cheese. Top with peppers, pepperoni, red onion, and Italian sausage. Sprinkle with garlic salt, if you wish.
Fill hopper with wood pellets. Steve used apple wood, and the flavor was awesome. Place pizza directly on grill and cook at 375 degrees with lid closed. Pizza will be ready to eat in 30-40 minutes.
