Yummy homemade hamburgers!
My son-in-law, Cory, is pretty handy with grilling and BBQ cooking, and one of his specialties is homemade hamburgers. All of his burgers are good, but my favorite of all of Cory’s hamburgers is his BBQ burger. The whole family loves them, and we often vote for the BBQ burgers over steaks when we have family cookouts. Cory fired up the grill and made his signature burgers this evening, so I had him take a photo of the burgers and give me his recipe.
Many grill masters opine that grilled hamburgers should be flipped only once during cooking, but Cory turns his often, and they always turn out perfect! They’re always juicy, flavorful, and well done – just the way we like hamburgers. A sweet barbecue sauce with a tomato base works best here, but use your favorite barbecue sauce. Cory uses Bulls Eye original. Hope you enjoy it!
Cory’s BBQ Burgers recipe
What you’ll need:
- 2 pounds lean ground chuck
- 2 tablespoons minced green bell pepper
- 2 tablespoons grated onion
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- Bottled barbecue sauce
Directions: Mix together all ingredients except barbecue sauce. Shape into six patties.
Grill over medium coals. When hamburgers are almost done, brush both sides with barbecue sauce. Do this several times so that there’s a nice bbq sauce coating on the hamburgers.
Serve on onion rolls, hamburger buns, or Kaiser rolls.
