Strawberry cream cheese dessert with pretzel crust
My oldest daughter shared this recipe with me, and it’s delicious! The crust is made of pretzels, believe it or not. On top of the crust, there’s a cream cheese layer, and then it’s topped with a layer of congealed strawberries. This recipe makes a great dessert for practically any occasion!
Mandy Schneider’s Strawberry-Pretzel Dessert recipe
What you’ll need:
- ¾ cup butter, melted
- 2 cups crushed pretzels
- 1 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups Cool Whip
- 2 packs strawberry jello (.6 ounces each)
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 10-ounce bags frozen strawberries (do not thaw)
Directions: Pour melted butter into a 13 x 9-inch casserole dish. Sprinkle evenly with pretzel crumbs and 1 tablespoon sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool.
Cream together 1 cup sugar, cream cheese, and vanilla. Fold in Cool Whip. Spread over crust and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Pour boiling water into bowl and dissolve jello mix. Stir in frozen strawberries. Chill until mixture begins to thicken – about 10 minutes. Pour over cream cheese layer.
Cover and refrigerate for several hours or overnight.
