Fried cheese sticks - a great party food idea!
You’ve had mozzarella sticks at restaurants, right? If you enjoy cheese sticks, try making your own! This cheese sticks recipe is awesome! The outside coating is crunchy, and the inside of the cheese sticks is ooey, gooey melted mozzarella. You can buy a block of cheese and cut your own mozzarella sticks, or you can use the snack-size cheese sticks. Sometimes you can even find mozzarella sticks that have already been cut into just the right size for making fried cheese sticks.
These cheese sticks are great as a party food or as an anytime snack.
Holle’s cheese sticks
What you’ll need:
- ½ pound cheese
- Plain flour
- 2 beaten eggs
- ¼ cup milk
- 2/3 cup dry Italian bread crumbs, crushed VERY fine
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- Cooking oil
Directions: Slice cheese into sticks. Dredge in flour.
Whisk together eggs and milk.
Mix together bread crumbs, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder in shallow bowl or dish.
Dip floured cheese sticks into egg wash, then roll in crumb mixture.
Place breaded cheese sticks on a foiled-line pan and freeze for 30 minutes.
Remove from freezer and roll in crumbs again, if needed.
Fry cheese sticks a few at a time in 365-degree oil. Fried cheese sticks are ready when outside is golden brown.
Drain on paper towels and serve with pizza sauce.
