Here’s yet another recipe for homemade hamburgers. For these homemade hamburgers, I used two types of peppers – sweet peppers and hot peppers. For the sweet peppers, I used bell peppers, and for the hot peppers, I used jalapenos. For the onions, I used Vidalia onions. Use your favorites!

I have another recipe for homemade hamburgers to share with you that we made a few days ago – kind of a Southwestern or Tex-Mex recipe. We cooked our homemade hamburgers on the grill, but you can fry yours in a black iron skillet if you like. I used lean ground beef but decided the burgers might get a little dry, so I added some cream to help with the juicy factor.

We grilled homemade hamburgers this afternoon, and I tried out one of my new concoctions. I had a bag of Vidalia onions, and a friend gave me a bag of locally grown bell peppers. Most of the peppers were green, but a couple were turning red. I wanted to use the onions and peppers with some of the burgers, just for a test run. The veggie-stuffed hamburgers were yummy! It’s a great way to incorporate some healthy veggies in with your hamburgers, especially if you top the hamburgers with fresh tomatoes. Here’s the recipe!

With these homemade hamburgers, you won’t be asking, “Where’s the beef?” A half pound of beef will be right there on your bun – in two forms. You’ll have a nice quarter-pound grilled burger patty, and on top of that, you’ll get ¼ pound of fajita steak, with all the trimmings. It’s beef and more beef!

These homemade hamburgers combine the ideas behind two Jimmy Buffett hits – “Wasted Away Again in Margaritaville” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise.” Hence, I call them “margarita burgers in paradise.” These hamburgers are definitely a bit different, and they’ll have a party going on in your mouth. The margarita theme is represented in the bun, in the hamburger sauce, and in the meat itself.

If you’re a burger fan, you know that homemade hamburgers are the best. Even so, lots of folks like the flavor of McDonald’s Big Mac. You can make a “Bigger Mac” at home that’s much better, however. One of the main problems with a Big Mac is that it’s stingy with the most important element – the burger itself. Those two tiny hamburger patties usually play hide-and-seek under the lettuce, and the patties usually win. They do a great job of hiding!

Making homemade hamburgers is a great idea for Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day. Who doesn’t love burgers on the grill? Heck, hamburgers are even good in the skillet! These hamburgers are for the real cheese aficionados – they have cheese on top, like a traditional cheeseburger, but they have a surprise on the inside, too – more cheese! You can use two slices of the same kind of cheese, or you can use one cheese variety on top and a different one for the inside. Personally, I like to use mozzarella on the inside and cheddar on the top, but use your favorites! From my experience, I’ve found that the cheese on the inside melts better and more evenly if you use grated or shredded cheese.

Hamburger recipes are as varied as America itself, and just about everyone enjoys burgers and has his own homemade hamburgers recipes. I’ve warned you about Southern food before – we’ll batter and fry just about anything that will stand still long enough! When I was a kid, my mom used to make battered hamburgers. Dad owned a grocery store and brought home lots of ground beef, so I guess she was always looking for new ways to cook it, and batter-fried hamburgers was one of them.
