Pigeon Forge, TN
I can honestly say that the steak I had at the Alamo Steakhouse last fall was about the best steak I’ve ever had in a restaurant! It was tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. They use prime black angus beef and cook it over oak, so it’s no wonder the meat is awesome. I’m not alone in singing the praises of the Alamo. The locals have voted their steaks the best in the area for five years.
To get you started, they have some great appetizers, soups, and salads, but go easy on those – you want to save room for a big slab of beef. Their porterhouse tips the scales at 22 ounces, and even their burgers are huge, at a full pound each. Their sides were tasty, too, but really – who needs size when you have a half a steer to finish off? We really liked the Alamo’s own steak sauce, too. In fact, we like it so much that we bought a few bottles of it to take home.
In the rare chance that you saved room for dessert, you won’t be disappointed. We shared a slice of cheesecake, and it was rich and creamy, with just the right amount of sweet. And by the way, we got great service at the Alamo, too.
This place is very popular with locals and tourists alike, so if you’re going on a weekend, call ahead for reservations. This place isn’t cheap, but if you go in hungry and appreciate good beef, the price is well worth it!
